Organizers of an annual campus charity event are close to reaching their goal of raising $35,000 and recruiting 700 volunteers to package more than 142,000 meals for the nonprofit group Stop Hunger Now. You can help them by volunteering and/or donating to the cause on their website.
The event, sponsored by Service NC State, takes place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Carmichael Gym.
Stop Hunger Now works to alleviate hunger around the world by providing packaged meals to schools, vocational training programs, early childhood development programs, orphanages and medical clinics. NC State students and employees have packaged more than two million meals for the organization in the past five years.
