Dr. Brian Floyd, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, has won a $300,000 Young Faculty Award from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
The awards program provides funding, mentoring and a network of industry and Department of Defense contacts for junior faculty who are considered rising stars.
Floyd will receive funding over the next two years for imaging research. He will explore ways to reduce or eliminate hardware overhead in conventional passive millimeter-wave cameras used for aircraft navigation, remote sensing and concealed object detection. His project is titled Interferometric Imaging using Reconfigured phased-arrays In Silicon (IIRIS).
