In a bid to increase participation in the annual employees’ charitable campaign, Chancellor Randy Woodson extended the deadline for the fundraising initiative an additional two weeks. The campaign, called Wolfpack Gives Back, will now end on Friday, Nov. 5.
Employees who wish to take advantage of the extension can download a form at the Wolfpack Gives Back Web site.
In a letter to employees, Woodson said NC State has raised $526,000 in just six weeks, matching last year’s campaign, which lasted eight weeks. But the campaign has fallen short of the goal of 50 percent employee participation, engaging just 32 percent so far.
“I don’t think any of us is satisfied with just matching last year’s numbers,” Woodson said. “I know I’m not.”
The chancellor said charities across North Carolina are struggling to meet the needs of families facing the worst economic downturn in decades.
Wolfpack Gives Back is part of the State Employees’ Combined Campaign, a coordinated effort by North Carolina public employees that supports more than 1,000 nonprofit groups. The campaign has raised nearly $80 million for charity since 1985.
