Who better to receive the William C. Friday Award than Bill Friday himself?

The Association of Retired Faculty recently created the award for distinguished service in retirement – named for the one-time president of the UNC system – because it wants to honor people, like Friday, who continue to serve the public after retiring.

The inaugural award will be presented to Friday on Wednesday, May 19, at the University Club on Hillsborough Street. The event starts at 10:30 a.m., with lunch at 11:30 a.m. ($15 per person).

Friday will speak after accepting the award.
